Samburu National Reserve is located in northern Kenya. Rugged and remote known for its desert-like climate. The main source of water is the Ewaso Ng’iro River.This reserve is rich in wildlife; the rare northern species such as the Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx (Also referred to as Samburu Special five). The reserve is also popular with a minimum of 900 elephants. Large predators such as the Lion, Leopard and Cheetah roam freely (Kamunyak the Miracle Lioness that adapted the baby Oryx is a resident in the reserve). Wild dog sightings are also a common attraction. Abundant birdlife with over 450 species recorded. Birds of the arid northern bush country are augmented by a number of riverine forest species. Lesser Kestrel and the Taita Falcon are species of global conservation concern and they both utilize the reserve. Five species categorized as vulnerable have recorded in the reserve. These are African Darter, Great Egret, White-headed Vulture, Martial Eagle and the Yellow-billed Ox-pecker. Critically endangered species under CITIES – Pancake tortoise (malacochersus tornieri) is found in the reserve.

03 Days Samburu National Reserve program
Day 01: - Nairobi/Samburu National Reserve
We will pick you up from your hotel/airport/residence. Drive through the central highlands of Kenya past the equator to the Samburu National Reserve rugged and semi-desert park located in Samburu district in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya.
Arrive in time for late lunch and enjoy a sumptuous meal. Check in and settle in before departing for the late afternoon game drive until sunset. Return to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 02: - Samburu national reserve
Rise up early and after a quick cup of hot tea/coffee and pastries depart for the early morning game drive around 0630 am. Return to the lodge for late breakfast and spend the rest of the morning at leisure enjoying the facilities available at the camp/lodge
1300 hrs: Lunch at the lodge/camp followed by more time to rest
At around 1530 hrs depart for an afternoon game drive until sunset. You will have an opportunity to visit the local Samburu village where you get a chance to interact with the colorful Samburu people in their traditional setting and experience their culture at an extra cost. This is a good opportunity to purchase traditional Samburu souvenirs, art and collectibles.
Return to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight
Day 03: Departure
Rise up early and after a quick cup of hot tea/coffee and pastries depart for the early morning game drive around 0630 am.
0830 am: Return to the camp for late breakfast and check out. Drive back to Nairobi stopping at Trout Tree restaurant for lunch (at own cost) or your preferred joint. Drop off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for outbound flight or at your residence.

A camera, binoculars, hat, sun glasses, sunscreen and warm clothes for early mornings and late evenings.
